James R. "Jim Bob"'s Story

Life 01 March 2012: It has been a while hasn't it. Davy Jones of the Monkees died of a heart attack yesterday at age 66. Bummer. I am working with the Defense Accounting & Finance Service (DFAS) in Indianapolis. The US Army is installing a new financial tool based on SAP ERP software. I am a sub-contractor to the prime contractor, Accenture. This portion of the project will conclude the end of March. Then, I will be off to some other location. My son, Paul Grady Madden, has resumed his studies (History) at Southeastern Louisiana State University (SELU) in Hammond, LA after a break for physical & mental repairs stemming from his year-long deployment in Iraq. 24 November 2007: I have been maintaining a BLOG (journals.aol.com/jrmaddog/MadDogMadden - case sensitive) and have been adding photos during my travels and other times. Comments would be appreciated. Oh, I am working for SAP America Inc.; joined the firm 30 April 2007. 03 March 2007: In mid-February, I concluded a project engagement with Rolls-Royce in Indianapolis, Indianan and am now seeking another project. On the other hand, I am enjoying being at home during the week and "goofing off" a bit. Started work on the income taxes for 2006 using TaxCut software but still have a way's to go summing up both charitable donations & medical expenses. The weather in Baton Rouge is starting to warm up but last night was a bit chilly. The oak trees are "blooming" & the yellow pollen is beginning to get thick on the vehicles. 26 June 2004: Paul Grady has been in Iraq since mid/end of February 2004. He is stationed at Al Asad airbase some distance west of Baghdad. His duties so far include convoy security and maintenance of water-related equipment. Though he volunteered for a year's tour, the USMC may limit it to seven months per a recent article in the Camp Pendleton weekly newspaper. Paul Grady reads about a book a day, calls when the phone lines are up, and writes infrequently; Daphne writes daily and sends packages frequently to Paul Grady and other Marines in his unit. 21 February 2004: Still on the project in New Jersey. If you would like to check out my BLOG, go to "journals.aol.com / jrmaddog / MadDogMadden" - comments appreciated. 20-28 December 2003: Spent the week at Camp Pendleton, California as Lance Corporal Paul G Madden could not get neither liberty nor leave for Christmas. We did pick up his 1971 Plymouth Valiant from the shop in Alpine where a re-built slant-6 engine had been installed after its predecessor through a rod during a Thanksgiving drive to Arizona. 09 November 2003: Went to work with Computer Science Corporation (CSC), specifically, CSC-Consulting. First project is in Moorestown, New Jersey with the U.S. Army Logistics Modernization Program (LMP). 27 February ...Expand for more
2003: Let go from position with Atos Origin, Inc. after 6.5+ years. Today is 29 July 2002: My son, Paul Grady Madden, is slightly more than halfway through USMC basic training at Parris Island. My spouse, Daphne Grady, is recovering from Cub Scout Resident Camp last week. I am still working west of Chicago. Daphne is planning to come up for a short visit next week. Tonight is 24 March 2002: I am in Baton Rouge trying to get my e-mails accounts untangled. After almost four months "on the beach" (between formal assignments), I will be starting a seven-month engagement with Grohe America outside of Chicago, Illinois. My son, Paul Grady Madden, will be graduating (I hope) from high school in about eighteen days and, if that goes through, he will leave for Parris Island, South Carolina, and Marine boot camp on 09 June. 11 Sept 2001: I was working in New Jersey. I could see the towers burning but did not know what had happened until after both had fallen. From noon to nine, I was at the local Red Cross chapter watching the ABC local affiliate and consolidating information to be posted around the conference room. For ten days after, each morning on the drive to work, I could see the smoke rising from the debris on Manhattan island. Today is 20 March 2001: Location is Sunnyvale, California, heart of the Silicon Valley. Philips Semiconductor is the client and I am part of an ongoing SAP implementation project. Today is 25 January 2001: I am working near Toronto, Ontario, Canada in my capacity as an SAP consultant. I have been a consultant for four and a half years and have worked in New Zealand, Belgium, Brazil, and Argentina. My family and I reside in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and visit Shreveport fairly frequently. School I started school at Clinton Boulevard Elementary outside of Jackson, Mississippi but, when the area was annexed into the city, the school became Mary Ida Raines Elementary. In the fall of 1962, I started 7th grade at Hardy Junior High (not Hardy Middle) and from there proceeded to Provine Senior High School. However, in the summer of 1967, the family moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, so I spent my senior year at Captain Henry Miller Shreve High School - it was the first year of operation for Capt. Shreve. College There were two years at LSU-Shreveport (Fall 1968 to Spring 1970). In the fall of 1970, I transferred to LSU's Baton Rouge campus to complete my Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (ChE) in May 1972. Earned my Master's in ChE in May, 1974. While at LSU, I was a member of the Judo Club, worked a couple of football season for Campus Security as a parking "guide", worked with the LSU Union Catering service, learned how to wait tables in the Plantation Room restaurant, and attended two (2) home football games.
